Welcome to Kuala Lumpur!

If this is your first trip to Kuala Lumpur, Selamat Datang! or "Welcome" in our national language Bahasa Malaysia.

Wesak Day

This month, Buddhists around the world celebrate Wesak Day, the day to commemorate the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha. Wesak Day falls on May 19 this year and if you are around, we invite you to join in the celebration.

The celebration usually starts on the eve of Wesak with chantings and blessings sessions at temples around Kuala Lumpur. Meritorious deeds such as blood donation and alms giving are encouraged among Buddhists and during Wesak Day such events are organised in temples and schools.

The main celebration of Wesak Day will be held at the Buddhist Vihara in Brickfields although you can practically visit any Buddhist temple in town to join in the celebration. At night, there will be a huge around town procession from Brickfield' Buddhist Vihara to the city centre and back.
