Kuala Lumpur is a Shopper's Paradise. Even if there is not much that you wish to buy, on a hot day, you can certainly do some window shopping in Kuala Lumpur's many shopping complexes. These are airconditioned, comfortable, and many are equipped with a food court and restaurants for you to have your meals in between your shopping spree. If you like, go off the beaten shopping track when in Kuala Lumpur. Try the Night Markets (or pasar malam as we call it), Farmers' Markets (pasar tani as they are known), and the many shopping alleys around the city such as Chinatown or Petaling Street areas, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman bazaars, Chow Kit road and Kampung Baru. Bargains are available all year round in Kuala Lumpur and not only during designated Mega Sale periods (held nationwide in March, September and December). Retailers are required to display price lists and while bigger shopping complexes offer fixed priced goods (or at listed discounts), the roadside retailers may give discounts at discretion. The trick here is to ask if you can get a better deal - bargaining is a well-accepted norm when doing street shopping in Kuala Lumpur. Indeed Kuala Lumpur is equipped with plenty of shopping destinations, ranging from hypermarkets to designer boutiques, from street stalls to shopping alleys. Shop till you drop, from morning into the wee hours of the night. Kuala Lumpur is indeed a shopping paradise. Midnight Markets This is the latest where shopping in Kuala Lumpur is concerned. We have nightmarkets which operate from 5pm to 10pm and now, midnight bazaars have joined the bandwagon. They can be found at Sentul Raya, Danau Kota and the Bandar Tun Razak's velodrome carpark. Operating from 10pm to 3am, all sorts of things can be found here - from souvenirs to clothings, gadgets and even cars. Below are some of the shopping areas you might want to check out.
